But it's only aesthetical in a comic book

Rat carcass in alley this evening. Tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.

Sad when you almost step in vermin, and the first panel of Watchmen is the thing that leaps to mind. At least I didn't skid in it, like once before.

Gah, I almost stepped on a (live) rat the other night. If I'd skidded on it, I think I would have had to be hospitalized with an acute case of revulsion.

You and Greg, with your rat run-ins.

It's just those rarified circles in which we move!

Believe me, I didn't feel clean for a week after that. Good thing I didn't have a machete to hand, because I might have chopped my foot off just to get my shoe away from me faster.

But the rat made a nice hat.

Given that I almost stepped in vermin last week, and did not immediately have the first lines of Watchmen leap to mind, I feel like a failure as a nerd.

My excuse is that the vermin in question was at the side of a wooded road and not a city alley.

Ah, but the beauty of nerdity is that one can never fail at it!

Still, glad at least that you missed stepping in your vermin.

P.S.

My recent mix CD giveaway contest offer (http://shunn.livejournal.com/421116.html) was tailor-made for you....

Oh, jeez! I saw the word "jazz" and said to myself, "I don't know no jazz."

How mortifyin'.

R-Minus 9 days

I was going to check this out cos i'm sure it goes 'dead dog in alley this morning....' (not that i'm against you paraphrasing to ensure relevance) but i can't find my copy of watchmen which is a huge tragedy as i've had it since 1988 and it's the Canadian cover (cityscape with badge in midair from smashed window) rather than the bog standard UK cover (close up on stain on smiley) and if i don't have it then that pain in the arse ex-flatmate of mine has it and it will never be seen again.

I think it's "dog carcass" in the original, yes. Bloody memorable opening.

Did your consolation CD arrive, btw?

I did indeed make a few word substitutions. [livejournal.com profile] darius is right, it's "dog carcass" in the original, and you're right that it's "this morning."

I believe my copy has the same cover as yours.

No! That makes the second package that's gone missing here, I suppose. (And there was a third, with a couple of graphic novels inside, that got stepped on.)

I did manage to order your chapbook, though. Quite enjoyed it.

Glad you enjoyed the chapbook, but yikes! I'm sorry about your mail woes. I can try sending another disc and marking it BOOK or something equally repellent to thieves, and hope it doesn't get trodden.

I would like that if you feel like it -- whenever it's no bother.

There was another bit of mail I was getting suspicious about, after this, but it turns out it's still unsent, so we're not yet up to "three times is enemy action".
