Cupcake, cupcake, cupcake, I made you out of clay

A colleague here in Chicago reports that she called a local supermarket chain with a kosher bakery to find out about ordering cupcakes for her son's preschool. They did have kosher cupcakes, but unfortunately only with Christmas decorations.

As a side note, one of the first sentences in German that John and I learned together was, "I made you out of clay." We say it ALL the time. I don't know what's wrong with us.

Too funny! What an odd first sentence of German.

I still sometimes bust out the first couple of lines of Goethe's "Der Erlkönig," which I memorized for a state foreign language competition in high school:

Wer reitet so spät durch Nacht und Wind?
Es ist der Vater mit seinem Kind.
