[livejournal.com profile] bobhowe and I saw Grizzly Man last Saturday, and just now on coffee break we were cracking each other up with our Werner Herzog impressions:

"Ven I look into de eyes of de beah, I see de flat, dead stahe of Leni Riefenstahl, above me in de dark viss de vhip..."

Speaking of Leni, I found this picture the other day and am pleased I'm able to use it twice in one week on LJ.

Who said German cinema couldn't have a sense of whimsy?

The irony is so rich I might go into insulin shock. One wonders if she's picturing them with pink-triangle armbands.

Holy Christ! Too many jokes I must make.

Bill, do you still have the Leni film poster jpeg I did? I can't get to my copy on the home machine, and it's be the perfect complement to this image.

Was this around the time she died? I might be able to find it if I can fix an approximate date.

Well, you know it's got to be Leni's house because there aren't any Boris Vallejo/Julie Bell/Rowena abortions on the walls.

My favorite of Vallejo's (aside from the one with Christ breaking off the cross):

Why, you ask?

Because of the icon possibilities:

German filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl shuffled off to the final Fuhrerbunker reunion at age 101, on September 9, 2003. This movie poster commemorates her long-overdue appearance at the Hades Film Festival.

Now I'm blushing. More OCD than polymath. I simply had to buy the Tom Lehrer box set (http://www.rhinorecords.com/store/ProductDetail.lasso?Number=79831) so I could complete my adverbial mix CD (http://www.shunn.net/music/index.cgi?q=l&f=a&i=3074) in proper fashion. I need help.

The United States is almost always the most dysfunctional of the developing democracies, sometimes spectacularly so.
This seems particularly spectacular...

What happened to the fox?

I saw Grizzly Man this past friday night, what a portrayl of a psychotic man. In all honesty, I do have medical experience, and clinically he was insane. His outrage against the public in the documentary was characteristic of Timothy McVeigh's outrage against the American government, instead of blowing up a building, Timothy Treadwell took an innocent and deceived woman into the forest to become bear food with him. Even the way he touched the bear feces, it was almost like he wanted to become it, and he did. One question remains: What ever happened to that delightful innocent fox companion of his? He is truly the victim here. I mean we heard of how the two bodies were found, but seriously, where is the fox? This is a true tragedy if he also became bear feces like his friend.

I don't believe this man was not insane. He may have been portrayed that way in the movie, but who was actually there? None of us. Only he saw what was going on. He got cought up in the moment during some of his filmings, but I'm sure venting out sometimes keeps him and everyone sane. Maybe he should not have done some of the things he did, true. However, after continuously going to the same place year after year, gave him a certain comfort. After all that time things become an educated risk. He pushed it to the limit, which caused his death. Not because he was insane.
