Memo re: exiting crowded subway train

It's a sad failing of mine, I know, but I'm afraid I can't get out of everyone's way at once.

This is only a problem because you wouldn't let me get to the empty space at the center of the train.

You know what I hate: you can only pay on the first car, so there is a massive clump of people gathered at the door of the first car. They pay for their ticket, and THEN THEY JUST STAND THERE! For the next four or five stops. It's very irritating to have to get around them to the emptier part of the car. I, at least, usually try to jump off at the next stop and switch cars if it's not possible to move out of the way right away.

You know, we had our coffee break conversation about this, then going home I was trapped on the bus with a load of screaming teenagers. It was a long ride. Civility is declining, even if it's only my civility.
